This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work as beauty therapists to provide a range of beauty therapy treatments and services, including lash and brow treatments, nail services, make-up, massage and waxing. They communicate with clients to recommend treatments and services, and sell retail skin care and cosmetic products. This includes consultation with clients to provide beauty advice, recommend beauty treatments and services, and sell retail skincare and cosmetic products.

This course provides training in the fundamentals of beauty therapy techniques and services including:

Basic and specialised facial treatments

Body massage and body treatments

Skin Biology, Anatomy & Physiology

Lash, brow tinting and waxing services

Cosmetic Tanning

Make-up services

Eighteen (18) core units, and;

Five (5) elective units

Entry Requirements

Students will need to demonstrate the Learning, Literacy and Numeracy skills required for this course prior to course commencement.

Course Delivery

This course is delivered via face-to-face teaching, demonstration, and practical application. Students experience a simulated workplace environment, with access to equipment, products and facilities reflecting industry practice. Students are also required to complete a total of 100 hours mandatory work experience to be undertaken prior to course completion.

SCA operates a student run clinic day designed to enable students to gain valuable experience and skills for treating clients in a Beauty Salon environment.

SCA students are supervised by an Educator and perform treatments in which they have been deemed competent in. SCA’s Beauty Clinic allows students to build the skills needed to find work placement and employment after their qualification.
